When I first heard about the Pillowtrack inflatable traction aid, I thought how odd. After thinking a bit more, I came to the conclusion that the Pillowtrack is a very interesting and helpful device to have on the trail.  Here's what the Pillowtrack people have to say:

Pillowtrack combines the traction of a sand ladder with the lifting of a jack, delivering a unique drive-on-jack off-road recovery solution.

The Pillowtrack versatility enables recovery and traversal of: Sand, Mud, Snow, Rocks, Wheel articulation, High center, and Trenches.

Pillowtrack's innovative concept provides unique features:

Compact – No larger than a duffle bag. Just stow and go.

Easy to use – Inflate, Position and Drive, all in less than 5 minutes!

No mounting, installation, or tools necessary.

The Kit can be ported and shared

Pillowtrack's patented technology offers exceptional grip and lifting abilities. It has a large contact area with the tire and the ground due to its recycled rubber ribs and low pressure operation.

The Pillowtrack SUV version is designed to hold the weight of common 4WD vehicles up to 7000 Lb. (3.5 tons), covering a wide range from the light Toyota Rav4 to an expedition level Land Rover Defender 110.

Each Pillowtrack kit contains: two 43" X 20" inflatable traction mats, a hand pump and a compressor adaptor. The kit weighs 11 Lb.
