Roll-on and spray-in bedliners have been used extensively in the truck and trail world, protecting surfaces far removed from the pickup beds they were originally designed for.
While many bedliner products require a trip to a dealer for an application, Durabak bears the distinction of our favorite three letters: DIY.
Durabak is available in both textured and smooth versions, and can be applied to metal, wood, fiberglass, and even concrete. Durabak is offered in myriad colors, extending its versatility and appeal.
In this case, black textured Durabak will be applied to the back side of a pair of Fiberwerx flared fiberglass fenders. These fenders create 4.5 inches of extra width per side, covering the Total Chaos long-travel kit and 33-inch Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's on the '04 4Runner we're working on.
What's that you say? You're not driving a 4Runner? You're not using flared fiberglass fenders? No problem. Keep in mind that Durabak is just as adept at protecting a Jeep tub as it is at protecting these fenders.
The benefits will be those of sealing the surface, deadening sound, and rock chipping resistance.
Once you've got everything set up, the application process only takes a couple of hours and yields impressive results.
We'll get started next time.
