Need Longer Toyota Wheel Studs?

ARP and Summit Offer a Solution

For some reason, Toyota's latest-generation trucks come with insanely short front wheel studs. These studs work fine with the long snouts on the stock lug nuts, which work fine with the stock wheels. As soon as aftermarket wheels are fitted you might find your wheels are hanging by little more than a thread or two. This is a sketchy situation to say the least.

You can improve wheel retention by using lug nuts that have a threaded snout. This snout protrudes into the bolt hole in the wheel and grabs about four more threads compared to standard acorn-style nuts.

The best solution comes from Summit Racing and ARP. I learned about these wheel studs from the  Toyota experts at Total Chaos Fabrication.

The studs are ARP part number ARP-100-7715, and they're intended for a Lexus IS 300. They're sold in packs of five.

I know these studs will work on the front end, but I'll double-check about whether they'll work out back as well. After all, this is the (mis)information age we live in.

In the mean time, here's the link to Summit Racing's product page:

I plan to order these suckers and get 'em on my 4Runner. Nothing's worse than finding out that your wheels are hanging by a single thread.
