Salvage Special II

My '06 salvage TJ Unlimited

Years ago, when I started at 4WD Action and changed it to 4 Wheel Drive & Sport Utility Magazine, I owned a 1985 CJ7 with a salvage title. That CJ became my very first magazine project and the "Salvage Special", as I called it, received a throttle body-injected Chevy 350, Currie Ford 9" front and rearends, Superlift springs, and Poppy Red paint. It was a very popular Jeep.

Through our friends at Burnsville Off-Road and Auto Body, I was able to get my hands on this '06 TJ Unlimited with only 3200 miles on it, but with a salvage title.

The body tub and frame were damaged, so a new Chrysler/Jeep tub and frame were installed, making my '06 Unlimited better than new. It's time for "Salvage Special II".

This time, a Dodge 5.2 Magnum V8 with 900 miles on it, a 4-speed automatic overdrive tranny, long arm suspension, Dana 60 front and rearends, 37" tires, and other parts will make Salvage Special II a fine Jeep (I hope).

Look for it in the magazine.
