Mastercraft Install Update

Rear seat frame getting close

Just a quick update on the Mastercraft seat installation into the 2004 4Runner.

The rear seat mounting frame is coming together nicely. So far, there are three anchor points along the front, and two in the back. The two rear anchor points are factory bolt holes, but those bolts were used as pivots for the fold n' tumble stock rear seats which did not support weight. We'll add a couple more anchors to the rear of the seat mounting frame for overkill security.

I do a lot of my own fabrication, but I can't take full credit for this one. Tom McKenzie at Suspension Innovation Motorsports has lent his talents, expertise, and machinery, and I've learned a lot.

Tom came up with a slick bracket for the center of the front edge. It's made from 1/4-inch steel, which a Piranha ironworker machine chews through like so much warm butter.

The best news is that I think I'll be able to adapt the front Baja RS seats to the stock sliders using plate and angle iron, and that should be a quick and simple process.
