Exploring in the Snow

Rare Snow Near Hurricane, Utah, Makes Trails Fun

I've been spending time going south from my home in Hurricane, Utah, to look for trails that I can bring to readers. This last weekend, we had a freak snowstorm that dumped quite a bit of snow to the south of us and made the trails fun.

My friend Phil Smith brought his 2008 GMC Canyon with Rancho suspension and 33" Goodyear MTR with Kevlar tires and off we went. At first, it was foggy and damp with very little snow. As soon as we crossed the Arizona border, the snow got deeper. Pretty soon, it was interesting as we slid around on the icy, snowy trail.

The scenery was beautiful and we "discovered" a canyon that wasn't on any maps. It was a bit too snow covered to get down into, but I plan on returning soon to explore it. After all, the canyon's only about 20 miles south of home!

It was a lot of fun slithering around the trail in the GMC. It worked very well and was a comfortable trail exploring rig. It might be a candidate for a feature. What do you think?
