After we'd explored the haunted Chemung Mine, we tooled down the rest of the descent and soon found ourselves in Bridgeport, CA.
I wanted to top off my tank, most of use needed to use the restroom, and we needed to air up our tires.
Gas prices were set to "stun" at this Bridgeport Shell station. The prices you see were about 80 cents per gallon more than what we'd seen in Los Angeles county a few days prior. I checked my gauge and decided I could make it back to Mammoth Lakes on what I had. Gas prices in Mammoth Lakes are fairly steep since it's a tourist town, but even those were about 50 cents a gallon less compared to Bridgeport.
The station attendant was friendly, and we made sure to purchase some convenience store goodies so we could use the "facilities," which were for customers only. I bought one of the best cups of hot chocolate ever to come from a vending machine--yes, really.
I had the chance to pay back some of the Powertank use given to me by others over the years. I loaned my Powertank to Brian and Jaime for airing up, and there was plenty of CO2 for all three of us. Jaime's used to waiting for a dawdling air compressor, so he was quite blown away by the Powertank's inflation speed.
Our beds and a coin-operated car wash (which we still needed after splashing through the cow pasture puddle) were waiting in Mammoth Lakes so we jumped back on highway 395 and mashed our skinny pedals.
