I've seen a lot of Fords lately. This isn't a problem, as I'm a Ford fan, but this month of my life has been especially Ford-heavy since I'm helping Off-Road Magazine with content for a Ford suspension special.
Today's photo shoot was a Skyjacker 6-inch lift installation on an '06 F-150 2WD standard cab. The lift system combined with a set of Rev Wheel KO's and 35-inch Toyo All-Terrain tires to give the red F-1 a new stance and new capabilities.
The crew at Desolate Motorsports did today what they've done time and time again: a quick installation done right. Desolate is a small shop that's become a go-to resource and a pleasure to work with.
A standard cab is somewhat of an oddity in this day and age of crew cabs and extended cabs. I'm not really a fullsize truck guy so a standard cab, shortbed fullsize truck is attractive to me because that's about as compact as it gets in the fullsize world. Had this been my personal truck it would have also been equipped with a transfer case and front drive components. Nice looking truck just the same, don't you think?
Today was also a wet one around SoCal. That's fine with pretty much everyone around here because we're usually lacking some rainfall. Fire season is winding down, but not before some Santa Ana winds typically pay us a visit. Hopefully today's soaking will mellow the fire season somewhat.
I could stay up and try to get something more done, but I'm so tired I'd probably end up mindlessly surfing the web for a few hours before giving up and going to bed. So...I'm going to call it quits while I can still think semi-straight.
