I was exploring a remote part of Southwestern Utah yesterday. After driving up to a canyon, I walked to the edge to see how and if it could be driven into. On the rock betweeen my feet were the pictographs you can almost see in the lead photo.
There were pictographs (pigment on the rock) and petroglyphs (carved into the rock) everywhere here! They looked to be quite old, as many of them have weathered to the point of being hard to see.
This is what makes exploring so much fun!
