Currie ZJ Axle Upgrade

Prep for Bracket Removal

The stock ZJ axle brackets will be re-used, but there's just one problem: they're still attached to the stock axle housing.

The solution: slicing them off with a "gas wrench."

Gas wrenches (cutting torches) will burn through metal, as well as anything flammable in the vicinity. As such, the housing needs to be cleaned inside and out in order to make the removal process both safe and accurate.

The differential is taken out, and the oil is drained.

Next, the axle housing is brought to a steam cleaning oven and placed inside. A few minutes later, the steaming-hot, squeaky-clean housing comes out of the oven, ready for the gas wrench.
