The Grille is Gone

The grille is gone, the grille is gone away . . .

With apologies to B.B. King, his cover of Rick Darnell and Roy Hawkins' song The Thrill is Gone seemed especially appropriate now that I've removed the hideous TJ chrome grille overlay from my 2004 TJ Unlimited.

It was easy, too. The two plastic christmas tree fasteners popped out of the top of the shell and the grille came off. Later TJs didn't have the fasteners on the bottom, just sticky tape. The tape had long ago given up on this LJ.

I proceeded to rough up the surface of the chrome headlight bezels in order to paint them body color. Once finished, I thought this looks funny. I then remembered TJs have chrome headlight bezels whether they have chrome or painted grilles.

At first, the painted bezels looked weird, but they're starting to grow on me. What do you think?
